Iceland is the land of ice, fire, and water. I took this picture from among the lava (called
hraun in Icelandic) by the active volcano Krafla in the island's Mývatn region. The sunset was spectacular and the setting, with its steam vents and lava, amplified the atmosphere. We had run down the boardwalk past the geothermic pools and further up a trail to find this view.
Photo taken with my wonderful Pentax K-x, short zoom lens, 0.5sec @ f6.3, 100 ISO. Used in-camera HDR processing, and did the usual contrast and color adjustments in Adobe Lightroom.
Thanks for looking.
